Frequently Asked Questions
What type of work do you do?
Finish carpentry and custom woodwork, including windows, doors, cabinets, entertainment centers, decks, stairways, shelves, crown molding, and more. I build complete custom kitchens and bathrooms, as well as remodels.
How many years of experience do you have?
I have 36 years of experience as a custom woodworker.
How long have you been in business for yourself?
I started Peter's Custom Woodworking in 1993.
Are you licensed, bonded and insured?
Yes - my license # is: PETERCW073L4.
What sets your work apart from other woodworkers in the area?
Quality, friendly service, attention to detail, and plenty of patience.
Where are you located and where do you work?
In addition to working on-site throughout the greater Seattle / Eastside area, many projects require that I build components in my shop which is located in Woodinville.
Can you come to my house / business and look at my space to give me a cost estimate?
I'd be happy to schedule an appointment to meet with you in person. You can contact me by clicking here.
Will I, as a client, get to work directly with you?
Yes. The beauty of hiring a one-man business is that you do not have to deal with any middle-men. If you would like to help with certain aspects of the project, I encourage your participation.
Can you re-create a design that I have seen somewhere else?
Yes. If you have seen a design you particularly like, having a photograph or even a sketch, will allow me to understand what it is you are looking for. From there the design can be changed to make it truly fit your space so you get the best possible outcome.
I have an Architect and / or Interior Designer that I know. Will you work with them?
Yes! If you have an Architect or Designer whose ideas you would like to use, I would enjoy working with them.
Will you be able to help me with a historical renovation?
Yes! I have worked on the restoration of a historic building on Capitol Hill in Seattle as well as several 200-400 year old churches in Denmark and Switzerland.
What if I have an idea of what I want, but am not sure where to start or what options I might have?
I encourage brainstorming sessions with my clients, where everyone can voice all possible ideas and opinions. I find the best results come when the client is involved in the process. All ideas and input are welcome and taken into consideration for the final plan. Since I come in with fresh eyes, I may see options that you have not considered.
